I have a ~32 inch long (~15 inch H and W) 32 gallon mixed reef tank. I was wondering what the best cooling fan would be to use for it? I have seen ones that have between 1-6 heads, and I’m not sure how many I would need for my tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also, I have never used a cooling fan before. My other tanks all are much larger and have chillers. Where do you mount the fan on the tank (front, side, etc.)?

There are many options on cooling with a fan. GHL sells several different multi head fan units. I also have seen people use a good ole $9.99 Walmart clip on fan. Heck you can even get a wall mount fan and have it blowing across the water.

The idea is simple, blow air across the water. It creates evaporation and through the process of evaporation your tank cools off.

I have my GHL 4 fan unit set up to blow air from one end to the other over the length of the tank. Configure your fan the best way you can to keep things looking nice in your eyes.

I use the GHL since it was about the best looking one I could find. No, you don't have to have their controller to use their fans.

I also mounted this fan to a cabinet next to my tank to supplement the GHL.

I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area and my AC is on allot so we don't see much need for a chiller.

I was actually going to buy these a few years back, but read the description.....

The brushless motors and ball-bearing fans on the PropellerBreeze fan batteries are splash proof. We recommend they be mounted in an area away from excessive humidity, condensation, and/or excessive splashing. Placing the PropellerBreeze in an area with high salt content such as in enclosed cabinets should also be avoided.

Really? Fans designed for use over an aquarium shouldn't be exposed to excessive humidity, condensation, or excessive splashing? GHL realizes these are going to be mounted over a box full of water that produces all of those things they say not to use them with?

So to use the item as it was designed to be used, voids the warranty?

I'm certainly not saying they aren't a good product, it's just their description of said product is a little confusing, and the main reason I did not buy them when I was looking into them.
