so.... I got some copepods in a batch of chaeto algae and thought, these are the stuff of nightmares, but they are doing a great job cleaning the tank. The fish seem to love eating them. Great.

The thing is, the algae is rapidly decreasing, little critters are everywhere. Do I need to worry about what happens when the algae is gone? Will there be a die off? Anyone gone through this before? Links to previous posts greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Good to know. Prob should have known that already.

Better question is are there any downside of copepod? Things people need to know about?

The chaeto I purchased went sexual and became a mass of slime, guessing that happened because water was too warm but not sure. Since the copepod population has reached its current level, the other nuisance algae is disappearing. Not a bad thing.

Thanks for the info.

Congrats on the 'pod' population. It's a good 'problem' to have...

The population will probably die off as food is consumed and they'll start eating coral and fish.

Just kidding

HAHA Although they wont do that it would benefit you to feed Phytoplankton to help keep the pod population up.
