Received a shipment of Coepods today and was wondering if I could use a turkey baster to put them in the refugium instead of shutting the entire flow off.

I recommend shutting off all flow in the system as well as the skimmer. It’s best to do it after lights out as well. With all flow off it gives their best chance at finding refuge and surviving so they don’t make their way to the DT and get eaten.

Proper introduction

Pod is on the left
LR is on the right

Not rocket science here but a good way to start is
1) make sure the fish are fully fed for the day,
2) waiting until about 1hr before lights go off, hopefully your lights ramp down to zero, fish are settling down and finding their sleeping spots,
3) all flow turned off
4) pour the pods over your most porous LR
5) allow 1hr for the lil swimmers to find the LR and bury themselves into the creaves
6) after the 1hr it should be LIGHTS OUT and flow can return

Thank you. Just hate turn our flow off. It's a pain the a** to get it adjusted after it's turned back on.

Got it. Thank you. I saw a video where someone squirted them directly into the sand bed of the DT and into the rock. Just want to give them the best chance for survival
