I recently bought some chaeto from my LFS 3-4 weeks ago, placed it in my small mini HOB refugium to get settled in.

Fast forward weeks later, I found myself with a bloom of copepods on my aquarium glass. The reason being i found my clown pecking at the glass, a behavior i noticed if i skipped a feeding or he found some copepods crawling in his corner.

The fun thing was, The copepods that hitchhiked on the Chaeto are also taking refuge in my canister filter. I removed some air bubbles in my canister and some larger copepods flooded out the outlet hose. So there is a very good chance copepods can populate in your canister filter in the right conditions.

Yep copepods are in my canister filter as well.

In the right conditions, copepods will thrive anywhere. Since they are so small, they can adapt to small spaces. Glad to hear you have copious amounts!

They will grow just about anywhere. I find them everywhere, the one exception, the GFO canister.
