I hope this is the right place to ask. This might be a dumb question but I've been studying ich for a couple weeks now about quarantine fish and live stock. The rule is not to add anything wet to your DT without quarantine fist. So am I safe to add copepods or phytoplankton ect without adding parasites or diseases. I just want to be safe, I am a week in to my cupramine treatment and wanted to know if it's safe to add this stuff to a fallow tank

Most commercial copepods and phytoplankton are raised in their own environments, with no fish involved. In other words, these companies start with sterile containers and add synthetic made salt water. Cultures are then added to these containers and grown out.

Ich requires a host to multiply. Copepods and phytoplankton are not hosts.

Thanks for the reply, The copepods I've been using have a label like from a company but the phytoplankton I buy is just in clear bottles without a label. My concern is should it be safe if it doesn't have a company name on it, because the fish store could be making it themselves.

I'm worried about the water the it comes with

Ask the fish store where it comes from. Only real concern would be if whoever is culturing them is using NSW or water from a fish tank but that would be rare. It's far more common for people to culture with freshly mixed artificial seawater.

Ok I'll ask tomorrow when they open. Thanks for clarifying things for me
