Copepods vs Amphipods

Do copepods and amphipods compete with eachother in the reef tank? I have a noticeable population of amphipods but would prefer copepods as I would like to get a mandarin. Will having a population of amphipods prevent copepods from establishing themselves?

I have a mixture of both in my fuge and they are both flourishing. I don't think it matters.
