Your kinda all over the place with your questions....:) A external pump would be outside your sump so I guess, depending on your setup you could have a larger refugium since you could getaway with no return chamber that holds the pump.
But this all depends on your setup which I know nothing about.

Sorry fall allthese questions im just tryna get all the stuff straight so I dont mess it up when i get my tank
 
60 gallon display, 40 breeder sump
Are you going DIY or a kit for the sump baffles? Is the 60 reef ready with overflow? I would recommend doing an internal return pump since you don't appear to have much experience with plumbing a tank and external pumps can be tricker to plumb and harder to maintain/clean.

Both tanks are aqueon, must be drilled.
