hello
I just tested copper in my DT, and it " I am surprised" shows 0.18 , don't understand why
PH is 8.2
Alkalinity 8.9
temp is 75F
phosphate 0.07
salinity 35

now, I am using RO/DI 5 stage system, TDS shows 0 and what is my big surprise? i tested the RO/DI water and it tested 0.10 !! what !!

as far as I know any copper is bad, to basically, something is not tight with the RO/DI

Yes I am using hanna , I thought they are pretty accurate.

They hanna copper checker is, but not at low levels. It's meant for more like 1+ppm copper. Really what it is meant for is raising and monitoring copper when treating fish for parasites in a quarantine tank, not for reading low level copper in a Display tank.

What made you check copper? Does something seem off or wrong with your tank?

Even based off of the info Hanna has for resolution and accuracy it can be off by as much as .06ppm. I still stick with anything below 1ppm and I wouldn't trust it.

I am trying to rescue my blue tang , that's why I bought the hanna copper.

I was jut curious to check the copper in DT. Just curiosity, then the RO/DI wager , and I was surprised.

If you want truly accurate levels of possible contaminants like copper, I can not strongly enough recommend getting an ICP test like from Triton or ATI. I personally prefer Triton, especially since even though they are in California and I am in Pa, I still get my results back is 3 to 4 days. Where as ATI also test's your RODI water for free, but it's close to 3 weeks to get results back as their lab is in Germany.
