So I put copper aid in my med tank to dose my clarkii clown for ick, I recently added my blue hippo tang to the med tank as well for signs of ick. How often do I need to add copper aid to the tank? I see on the bottle it says it will last up to a month? Anyone ever use this as a treatment?

I have a 10g med tank with two fishes in the hospital atm. I added the second fish about 3 days after the first one. Temp is at 81. Will that initial dose suffice?

You're gonna need to get a copper test kit to be sure. Copper Aid is chelated copper sulfate and the therapeutic range for that is 1.5-2.0 mg/L or ppm. The API copper test kit is the only one I know of which tests in that high range. All other copper test kits test in the low range, as they are designed to be used with ionic copper i.e. Cupramine.

Thanks
The fish are tanking to it well, clown is eating well and even feeding the tang, but looks like the white spots subsided over night. Ill try to grab a test kit.

is this the same as cupramine

It works the same. However, Copper Aid, Coppersafe, Copper Power are all chelated copper products. Basically, these are "old school" and have a much higher therapeutic range (1.5-2.5 ppm depending upon which product you are using.) Cupramine is "newer" ionic copper and is effective at a much lower concentration (0.35-0.5 ppm.) Supposedly this lower concentration makes it safer/gentler to use on the fish than chelated copper.

So, i always wonder if copper like these will kill beneficial bacteria?
Can I use a sump with cheato with water at 0.5 ppm cupramine?
dont mean to hijack the thread since he mentioned copper :)

It will put a dent in your bacteria levels, but will not completely eradicate. Bacteria levels affected by copper tend to bounce back quickly.

Copper kills corals, inverts & macro algae - so mixing chaeto with it is not a good idea. Only use copper in a QT, housed at least 10 feet away from all other aquariums: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/aerosol-transmission.190292/
