I have had this copper algea or whatever in my tank for a few weeks. I keep scrubbing off the stuff and shuffling my sand. But it keeps coming back. It's the color of orange or copper. I've tried using chemiclean and this isnt cleaning it out either. Slowly coming back. Pic is attached.. please inform what can be done. Have small corals and it keeps growing on them and worried it will kill them.

Your tank is new. It is going to go thru a few stages until it gets stable. No matter what magic potion you add (chemiclean or whatever) it will not help stabilize your tank. You should expect brown, green a maybe even red stuff to grow. Over time it will go away. Might take 6 months. Right now you need to keep blowing, cleaning it off your corals. Once it turns green you can add some clean up crew things, snails or hermits to help you keep the tank clean.

I have red and blue leg hermits to kinda help the issue of algea already and any extra crap that they can clean. My tank is still new but almost 3 months old just getting a bit worried because it even clogs up my sock in my sump had to replace it because it wouldnt even work after cleaning it out again. Been battling this crap for 3 weeks.

+1. It’s a process that all new tanks go through. If it’s too much of a nuisance, a suggestion is to introduce a jawfish to help churn the sand over. Nassarius snails or sand sifting sea stars. For the rock, blennies work great, along with emerald crabs & urchins. Other fish that might help are tangs like a tomini or kole. Hopefully that helps.

Since my tank is only 3 months old is it to early for tangs. I have a sand sifting star fish and it isnt doing a good job. Just dont want to buy stuff and it end up dying since it's still in the early stages.
