I had a copperband for 1 year maybe longer. Set up a new tank and I have 2 power heads on one side and mp40 plus 2400 gph return pump on other side. Tank is 8ft long. Well I just got home and saw my copperband was stuck to the mp40 and he’s dead. Could this be because of too much flow or what? Never seen or had this happen before in the 2.5 years I’ve had a saltwater tank. Should I buy another one or not a good idea with the amount of flow?

That sux, but a healthy fish wouldn’t get stuck on an mp40, maybe it was weak or died.

Two 40’s on an 8ft tank may also not be enough flow.

I have 2 on one side and 1 on other with the return line. Going to add more in the middle in the future.

Only thing I can think of that made it not healthy was having it move tanks 2 times in one day new rock scape. It was eating fine so not sure why it died

I lost one a few months ago the same way. It happened after I added an MP 60 to my tank (I had two mp 40’s on a 6 foot tank prior to that). I suspect that it wasn’t getting as much food as it needed, which weakened the fish. It struggled to compete with four tangs. I had that fish for a little over two years; I don’t think I’ll risk another one.

Agree. Copperbands unless eating frozen aggressively, can slowly waste away. I kept one alive for awhile with frozen clams, thought he was ok, and one day found him dead on my powerhead.

Sounds like what probably happened. He used to eat out of my hand but slowly stopped doing that I have 4 tangs that’s probably what happened. He used to eat anything I threw in the tank that’s why i loved it. I’ve had others that are super picky
