So I had to setup a quarantine tank because I bought several fish and one or more of them had velvet.
I used coppersafe and managed to save three of the fish. They are in the display tank now and all seems good with them for over a month or so now.

I know copper can't be transferred into my reef tank or I'll never be able to keep corals.
The tank and everything I used in it has been dry for a month or so.
So my question:
Can any of this equipment or even the tank be used for quarantining corals?
My assumption has been no.

Can the copper be cleaned off?
If so is it worth the risk of doing it?

I may get a few more fish so I may hang on to this setup until I'm done with acquiring new fish but if none of it can be used for corals then I guess I will sell it all (as quarantine tank) and buy another tank for quarantining corals. This coral setup will be needed indefinitely unlike the fish setup. Once I'm stocked on fish I probably won't add any more for several years or at least that is the way the last tank was.

Any input on this thinking and if my assumptions are correct would be appreciated.

Welcome to R2R!

I wouldn't use any rocks or sand that was in copper. The tank and the equipment will be ok. Rinse everything as well as you can. You can also put some Seachem Cuprisorb or Polyfilter which will adsorb copper. Hanna Checker is helpful for this too.

Agree^^^. There won't be enough residual to cause an issue on the tank and equipment.

Thanks for responding. I had completely bought the "once you have copper in a tank it is ruined forever for corals" line.
I already have the hanna checker and used it to regulate the copper while the fish were in it.
They had to stay in the quarantine tank for 76 days while the display tank sat fallow. During that time after the 30 days in copper I changed probably 50% of the water and ran cuprisorb (sp?) and of course now it has sat dry for a month.

So given that, I should be able to wipe it down good with vinegar and fill with new water and put corals in it.
That is awesome!
I was dreading have to deal with selling this tank and buying another one...

You guys have made my day.
