so now i have what i think is velvet in my fowlr. And im planning on dosing copper in dt. Ive already researched about i cannot be using the sand and rocks from that tank in another tank. Ive also read 4fordfamilys thread about this.
I alreay got the hannah copper checker. So maintaining the proper level of copper power wont be a problem as i will be checking it everyday

So my real problem os this. Theres an anemone in there. Ive been trying to get it out with powerhead blasting. And it wont bulge. And i dont have much time, since i think Im dealing with velvet.

Now i know the anemone will die, if i dose copper with it in the tank. Which im willing to do. But my question is, if the anemone dies, will it crash my tank? Will the anemone detach the foot from the rockwork once i dose the copper?
Help @4FordFamily @Humblefish @Maritimer @melypr1985

To what is the anemone attaching? I have succeeded to take away anemones through using a blunt table knife - put the knife between the anemone foot and the thing it has attached to and carefully move the knife.

lll try that. the anemone is so deep in the tank, im going to have a very hard time reaching it.

Can you just take out the rock the anemone is attached to and move it to a safe tank?

Thats the problem. I dont have any space right now to setup a qt. Im currently in the process of moving house.

I have used a turkey baster to shoot water up under the foot to aid in removal at least enough to get a pinky finger under them and safely remove without foot damage as well.

Are you able to temporarily house it at a LFS or local reefers house? Even then though I’d be careful putting it back in the tank because the rock absorbs the copper and it will remain in the system and bother the anemone. Tough situation with velvet here.

@Humblefish im pretty positive its velvet but how come my fishes are still alive after maybe 5-6 days since i noticed the spots. i know its velvet because it looks powdery/sugary and smaller than ich.and too numerous to count. but no heavy breathing and no swmming against the powerheads. theyre not even hiding in the rockworks. the hyt and the purple tang do flash though.

i havent had any casualty. i do have a 54w UV sterilizer and im dosing polyplab medic(i know it just kills the swimming stage). so im really at lost now as to what im dealing with.

if its ich, ill just do ich management. but if velvet im gonna do copper in the DT. but i know if velvet, its 1-2 days and the fish dies right. but its been at least 5 days already.

@kevsqn Between the UV and H2O2 in the water, you are managing the presence of the parasite. Some free swimmers are still finding fish to latch onto, but feeding time is probably reduced before they drop off. The trophonts are damaged, but not eradicated. However, your fishes’ immune systems are becoming more & more familiar with the pathogen, and how to fight it, with each passing wave.

Your fish are winning some battles right now, but I fear will ultimately lose the war without treatment. :( Due to being in a closed system, the parasites will eventually win the numbers game.

thanks. is it ok to dose polyplab medic while ramping the copper? and is running uv together with copper fine?>

Definitely DO NOT run UV strerlizer with copper, it will render the copper more toxic.

I am not familiar with polyplab medic. I would avoid mixing if possible, maybe do a WC and run carbon for a bit before starting copper. Humble may have additional advice for you here.

how about the carbon dosing. im using aquaforest pro-bio s and aquaforest NP Pro. can i still continue them?
