Copper in system

Ok I've just got my stats back from triton lab and its saying I have copper in my system at 5.79 µg/l. What should I do and where should I be looking for the culprit?HELP! Thanks guys

Hi, this is just my experience. As I too had copper in my system. I was feeding new era algae flake heavily, as I have a few tangs and rabbit fish. I heard a rumour that it contains copper, so I switched to a different brand, my copper reading has been 0 ever since. Might be worth checking your food ingredients?

Ok. I only feed frozen mysis with a frozen marine mix and nori. I've got a funny feeling it's my either my D-D salt mix or RO water. My Alk and calk are about 10 over what they should be.

IMO, that level of copper is not a big concern. I had copper at about 13 ppb for a while with no apparent issues.

However, if you want to lower it and cannot find a source, you could try a product like Seachem Cuprisorb or Boyd polyfilters.

Ok thanks mate. Yeah I rushed down to my LFS and picked up a poly filter and put that in a cheap filter I had laying around then put that in the sump. Thanks Randy that's put me at ease.

I was just dealing with this two. Some people said nothing I could do and to start looking for new tank sand and rock etc. I ran carbon and some of that cuprisorb. It's all gone and everything is looking just fine.

Don't worry, there is copper in NSW. It is a needed nutrient in trace amounts.

Ok I just done a water change, I only do 10ltr a day and my open brain and hammer definitely retracted.my RO resin was depleted,it was coming out at 0.05. so Ive emptied my salt water storage and changed out my resin.Just worried that I might be adding more copper with every water change. Do you think a reading of 0.05 might be adding copper to my DT?

0.05 doesn't make sense.

Do you mean 5 ppm TDS? 50 ppm TDS?
