I have a 8 x 20 Gallon Tanks plumbed together to a 100 Gallon Sump...

I used a lot of PVC Pipe for the plumbing.

I have just tested the water, and I noticed that I have about 0.50ppm of copper on it.

I have no idea how it got in there, my only guess is it leached from something.

What can I do to get rid of the copper without doing a 100% water change?

Is there any filter media that absorbs copper?

First question is what test kit are you using?

Next, are there any metal plumbing pieces you may have used? Source of top off water? Also could be from a piece of equipment that has started to break down in the water. Check your equipment and make sure everything is working properly and no metal is starting to rust. Usually rusting metal throws off high iron but that could also be it if copper isnt too high.

I've heard about gfo taking out copper but I've never used it in my personal experience.

Running carbon will remove the copper from your system, but I'd definitely try to find where it is coming from.
You mean gfo ?

No metal plumbing.. All PVC... the only thing I can think of was I had an electrician installing outlets above the aquariums... Maybe he dropped a piece of copper wire into the one of the tanks?

All the equipment is brand new and working as expected.. So no issues there that I am aware of..

That's a good thought. Especially if the tanks don't have lids on them then that is very possible. Could've even just been a small clipping of wire you know?

If the equipment is all brand new then I would also highly doubt it is that. You never know, but it does make it highly unlikely.

To me, it sounds like the electrician may have accidentally dropped a piece of wire in there or it could be coming from source water. Either top off or water changes. Not usual that source water would have such a high level of copper, though unless it's really bad tap water or a really bad RO system.

Another thought could be where did you get your rocks/sand? Was any of it ever used in a quarantine system where copper was used?

Also, could the test kit be throwing false positives?
