Copper Level - ok to transfer to main tank?

Hello!

I have had a blue star leopard wrasse in QT since the last week of April. She has completed a full 30 days of copper treatment, but being in a 40 gallon tank, it has been a VERY slow process to remove the copper from the tank.

I have the copper level down to .1 and it has been there for a little over 2 weeks. Is this far enough down to move her to DT? I usually do a transfer to a clean tank or zero copper and 2 weeks of observation. She is showing no signs of anything, and eating like a pig.

Just wanted to get some opinions here!

Congrats on getting your Bluestar through copper! They are tricky fish.

If you have been down at .1ppm for two weeks then you "should" be good to transfer. Wrasse are so hard to spot anything on anyway as a lone fish in QT.

I wasn't going to run copper, but the two other ones in the tank acted weird and had some white "dust" on their fins, so I wanted to treat. Neither of them made it (one didn't act right coming out of the bag to home even. I knew she wasn't going to make it). I just don't want to keep her in any kind of copper any more.

I also just found that my sister in law who was keeping my 120 and going to buy it isn't now. My full grown fox face and sailfin are in there. I can't move them into the new 180 until I get my other 2 new tangs (move them all in at the same time). So now I need to get my new tangs asap as well.

I get it. I have had good luck with leopards and copper power using the Hanna checker. Due to Wrasse being Typhoid Mary's with thick slime coat and being so good at hiding carrying ich/velvet, it is pretty much a "have to" with copper these days. Every single order I have received in the last year has had signs of ich/velvet except for 1!!!

Yep - been through the ich infestation. I won't risk it any more. But she was at full copper at the end of April, and slowly bringing it down for over a month. I can't imagine any parasite having survived that!

Nope. You should be good.

What size tank do you have!? I was so worried about putting just 3 in there that they would fight

Essentially a 180 (same dimensions).

RSR750XXL.

Mine bicker some. My Achilles has been in since the first batch hit the tank. He is becoming much more aggressive now that he is transitioning to an adult. He was a juvy when I got him.

Do you think a powder blue and naso will be ok in QT in a 40 gallon breeder?

One store locally is saying yes. One is saying the PB is too hyper and will stress the nasonout

I wouldn't hesitate at all. I have had 3 tangs in my QT (40b) at a time. No issue.

It would be a good idea to have a backup plan JIC. (I also have a 55g QT 5 minutes away at @4FordFamily's house). We have 2 55s in his basement and then 40b and 10g for ABX if needed at mine.

Ok. Awesome. I have a 20 and 2 10 gallons as well as the 40. The Naso I’m looking at has streamers so I’m sure he’s pretty big. Hoping to have a good sized PB to go in too. I figure either will be ok in a 20 for a short time. I’ll have it as backup!

And you think a Naso will be ok in a 180?

IMO you will be fine.

Of course you can always have that one tang that is a jerk. There is risk with mixing tangs period. Plenty of room for 3 in a 180.
