Copper levels

I have always had trouble reading the API copper test results. Based on how much copper I have added to my 29g qt I should have a little more than 1.0. I think the test shows closer to 2.0? What do you think?

Hold the test tube's bottom slightly above the white card surface in bright light. Squint your eyes a bit. See if that helps.

I hate reading API copper tests!!! I don't think the liquid color ever matches the card! But, I think yours is closer to the 1.0ppm than the 2.0

Agree closer to 1 then 2. Reading these color tests is one of the hardest things we do. It also happens to be one of the most important. It’s always painful. I’m currently running 3 separate QTs with Coppersafe and I’ve gone to an additional test using Chemetrics Copper Test. Using Chemetrics as my primary test with API as my doublecheck! Good luck.

I also agree that you’re just a hair over 1 in the photo, but you’re right, these tears are tough enough to read in person, much less a photo!

I’m glad I went with Chemetrics. It’s not perfect by any means but it does give you an additional tool which I personally find easier to read.
