Copper Power @ 2.50 and ich still winning

Back story:
Velvet in the DT and broke everything down! Lost 8 fish in 3 day!
Grabbed a 40G breeder as the QT. Took 24 hours to ramp up copper power to 2.5ppm

So 12/19 will be 30 days of copper power @ 2.45-2.50ppm yet the blue and sailfin show what I think is ich!
Yesterday I saw the blue tang going to town on the PVC pipe.

What should I do?

Perhaps, time to find someone who can do a skin scraping and slide inspection on a microscope to determine actual disease or parasite before continuing treatment.

This right here, as the "spots" may not be ich or velvet at this point, but may be something else (the names slipped my mind) that is common for both those fish while and after going through copper.

So the copper was able to halt the velvet for these two fish? That is pretty good. Usually, once fish loss has begun with velvet, copper treatments often don't work quick enough to stop additional losses.

While your fish could possibly be showing ich trophonts, if they are still in copper, that is highly unlikely. More of a possibility is that the tangs are showing mucus plugs - bits of skin produce extra mucus in response to some irritant - and copper often does that. Another possibility is the fish also have flukes, copper won't cure them of that.

If you can manage to get clear photos taken under white light (not blue) I might be able to see more....

I'm in the same exact boat as you, did copper at 2.5 for 30 days and noticed the purple tang flashing and some other fishes with white dot. Took them all out and did a fresh water dip with prazipro but didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. They are all currently still in qt with copper, prazipro and metroplex. Currently on second week of this combo and all fishes are looking good now.

My next route!

Tough to see for certain, but the foxface is breathing a bit fast and the sailfin has the disheveled look of a fish with flukes. n I would dose with Praziquantel, increasing the aeration. Dose once and then again about 8 days later. In some cases, a third dose is needed. Skip the metro - it overlaps with copper, isn't as effective, and can cause the fish to go off feed.

Both eyes look petty protruded. This happened suddenly? The two causes of that are mechanical damage (catching fish in a net) or gas supersaturation. That happens when there is an air leak on the suction side of a pump and good aeration reduces that. Bacterial infection can also cause it, but not suddenly.

Yesterday he was fine from what I remember and they have been in the QT since 11/6.

sailfin seem stressed swimming around and hanging in front of the power for a few minutes at a time…but the foxface looks relatively relaxed!

I personally would not be mixing all these remedies as it sounds more like a science experiment. Prazi will lower both oxygen and appetite and will added copper, can cause damage as jay mentioned.

You’ve tested water parameters and they are fine? The pH is above 7.8?
I can’t see anything else to do but see how they are in the morning and then decide to try a water change.
