So I started doseing my 220 fowlr with copper I know its harder just dont want to deal with paracites. I started the ramp up and tested but the api test is hard to read got a hannah checker and its reading 3.1 did a 20 gallon water change and currently makeing more water the fiah are swimming fine and eating and dont seem stressed what should the next plan be i would like to keep this thank at 2.0 for the next 30 days then go down to 1.0

I thought copper acts as a shield to prevent ich theronts from attaching to fish as it is released from the substrate. It doesn’t kill the ich at other life stages.

Encased tomonts that are on the substrate are not treatable with copper until they are released. We know that ich tomonts can release theronts up to 76 days after they are encysted. Humblefish’s new recommendations say 6 weeks if the tank temp is above 80.6F the whole time. But that’s why people recommend treatment tanks because 30 days of treatment is not enough if the fish stay in the tank afterwards. They are supposed to be removed from the tank and then they are “clean.”

I’m not sure whether dropping your copper level to 1 from a recommended treatment dose of 2.5 would be enough to kill newly released theronts.

I'm keeping the tank at 80 degrees and intend to always run copper in this tank due to the Achilles tand I was going to go to 1.0 just incaes a outbreak I dont have to shock the fish just ramp up also plan on dropping to 1.020 salinity
