Does anyone treat with Copper Power and PraziPro at the same time? I’ve read you can and also that you can’t. I would like to shorten the QT time for new arrivals if possible. Thanks!

You can, though it's generally not advised. Prazipro can cause a bacterial bloom without the help of another med.

If you choose to do so, I'd advise using a powerhead, some airstones, and having plenty of water on hand to combat the (more than) likely bacterial bloom.

You can use General Cure with copper. It contains slightly less praziquantel than prazipro, but usually enough to get the job done.

Still a risk I wouldn't take unless you have to. It requires much closer monitoring.

Thanks. You agree ok to use each independently? I had Ich in my DT and moving all the fish to QT and letting the tank sit fallow was painful for the fish and for me! Never want to do that again, hence treating new arrivals prophylacticly in QT before adding to my DT.

I would do it independently, UNLESS you get a fish in that you confirm has flukes etc. and you have already started copper due to ich or velvet. Then I would combine the treatments. I would only recommend combining if fish in treatment have multiple ailments and need both medications simultaneously.

Correct from a prophylactical standpoint. If you know you have multiple parasites/worms to deal with it may be the only option.

HeyHotRocks, I know that this is a old post but I have had a issue with my powder blue tang. I have had ich running through my tank for the past month or so. My powder blue has lost a lot of weight and is looking thin. I am thinking that he has a secondary something going on. I have him currently in a qt tank and I am going to start copper power today. I would also like to add something to treat the secondary infection. He has been eating very good every day. Just losing weight. Should I do copper and metro, copper and parizipro, copper and kanaplex? Or a combo? I'm looking for recommendations. I feel like if medical intervention is not made soon. He will not make it. Thanks.
