Hi all,
So I've got a QT set up ready for the first inhabitants of the new display tank, I've seen a lot of bad press about controlling Cupramine, and a lot of good press about copper power.
Does anyone know a UK equivalent to copper power??
Thanks in advance

Copper power is basically copper sulfate dissolved in water with a chelating agent. Check if copper sulfate is available.

I've used cupramine to QT all my tangs and angels with no issues. the medications hold levels steadily with filters and pvc.

Thanks, thats encouraging. I've read a lot of people say it's hard to dose accurately and maintain the correct parameters

Where do you get your fish from?
I'm in Bristol so 90% of my fish come from Southwest Marines via TMC, I have never qt'd a fish so curious.

This is my first venture into SW. So as it stands...no where! But I've read enough horror stories of entire systems being wiped out, so I'm intending to get it right from the start. Read a lot about QTing and its benefits so it seems the right way to go

I follow a lot of american journals and they have way more disease problem than we do, do you have a good lfs? Ask them where the fish came from and how the wholesaler qts them?
I fully understand you concerns, in my experience the more fish are medicated the weaker they are in the long run, it is a hard choice to make, observation yes, I won't post about what I think about exposing fish to ... !

I have to admit the majority I've seen are American, however I have seen a few UK ones. I'd appreciate if you did share, any knowledge is beneficial!

Just my opinion, find a good lfs and find out where the fish came from before the lfs, my opinion is that treatments are like subjecting you fish to a poison "just in case", I know it sounds harsh, boot on other foot, why would you buy a fish that needed to be qt'd?

I'd like to hope that they wouldn't need it but purely through fear of messing it up first time around its something I've given serious thought. Do you quarantine for an observation period (no meds)?

Hey Josh, how's it going?

I realise this is an old thread, but I'm new and appear to be in the same position you were in Feb last year. Did you end up using Cupramine or a Copper Power equivalent to qt your fish?

Thanks... Tower
