I have a FOWLR tank that is fallow (going on two months), the only thing alive in there is the biological filter, I am working to get the copper out, its currently down to .04 and I was using Seachem Cupramine to treat for ich. I have poly filter, cuprasorb, and carbon reactors for pulling the copper out of the tank. My question is I have an extra large UV sterilizer (160 watts - 4 chambers) the tank is 130 gallons, so do I need to have a 0 reading for a couple of weeks before I turn the UV back on? There are no fish in there and this is a FOWLR system, not a reef. I would really like to completely kill any pathogens before putting fish back in there. I also have an ozone generator that is not on.I would not run UV with any medication. The effects are not easily predicted as it has a lot to do with UV wattage/exposure versus flow rate and tank size.
Copper down to 0.04 is very low indeed. I've been running an experimental QT with CopperSafe and UV with no notable side effects other than fairly rapid copper level reduction that requires redosing every other day.I have a FOWLR tank that is fallow (going on two months), the only thing alive in there is the biological filter, I am working to get the copper out, its currently down to .04 and I was using Seachem Cupramine to treat for ich. Any advice would be great!
