So I have ich...I moved my two clowns to my hospital tank which is 2.5gal. I added some copper and the levels are .50 ppm. What should be a effective treatment? The directions said 1 teaspoon per 4gal. I did .5 teaspoon. And when should I start seeing results??

You will want to keep your fish in the hospital tank for as long as you run your DT fallow.....four to five weeks. Copper doesn't kill until the little buggers are in the free swimming phase. HERE is a good read on ich. Good luck.

I added a new yellow tang to quarantinne tank 10 days ago. It had no signs of ich until 8 days into treatment, all or a sudden it had ich! Copper can't kill ich in every stage of ichs life cycle so the fish should be in quarantinne with copper for 30 days after you don't see signs of ich and if you see ich partway in the process the 30 days starts over. That's how I do it anyway. And also, you need to leave your display fallow for 60-90 days to clear the system of ich. I left my display tank fallow for 4 months, so far it has worked great for me. No signs of ich on any fish in the display!

10-4 roger that. They have been in the QT for 3 days my DT has been fish less that long as well. I'm also dosing kick-ich into the DT as well and rally's into the QT.

Copper level depends on which brand your are using. Are all your fish in the copper? Display tank is fallow?

Yes all fish are in hospital. It's only 3 pair of clowns. And the DT is in fallow. Has been for a week.

I can't see two clowns being kept in (optimistically) 2.5 gallons of water as being conducive to recovery or health. How big are they, and do you know what stressed them?

How big is the display tank?

What happened was a had 3 pairs originally and ich wiped them all out. So I purchased another pair and put them in the QT and made my DT fallow. So this pair may not have ich, but my DT does. And the clowns are juvies, about inch big. The QT is 2.5gal long. I know its ideal but it's all I got right now
