Hello,
How slowly should i ramp up copper in my QT.
I have a Melanarus wrasse (whom apparently was in 2.5 ppm of copper at LFS)
Juvenile Naso and Long nose Hawkfish which I got from Big Al's, which make them NEED a full therapeutic dose.

if using copper power or coppersafe, I wouldn't take any more than a day or two to get up to therapeutic levels.... especially if any of the fish are showing any symptoms of anything. If they all seem clear, then feel free to ramp up more slowly, but the countdown clock doesn't start until they are at full therapeutic copper levels.

I use copper power and don't bother ramping up. I just dose up to 2.5ppm right away.

Copper power, its been 2 days and theyre not showing adverse effects.
its at 1.5 now, i may just ramp it up to 2.5 today and start the clock.

Then I'd go ahead and go to a full dose.

Be sure to measure the inside dimensions of your tank so that you can figure out the actual volume of water in the tank, for accurate dosing of your meds.

I typically use 1.5 ml per gallon of copper power, and that gets me pretty close to 2.5ppm. I confirm with a hanna copper checker, which is worth the price if you plan to QT fish with copper more than once.

No problem.
As long as you have them in QT, i would also suggest you treat them for flukes too.
Prazi is also pretty gentle on fish from my experience. Its a pretty easy process too.
It's all in Jay's recommended QT protocol.

good luck!

Copper ramp up, if parasites are visible then 4 - 12 hours max. If parasites are not visible 4 - 24 hours max. Two doses, each at 50%. I always do it in 12 hours max for either case, but some fear that's too stressful on the fish. The treatment is not effective until full concentration is achieved and really no advantage to delaying any longer.
