thought I would do a quick post. so I noticed the Seachem test kit says it will also test Chelated Copper such as made up from fish pharm or Kordan Mardel.. Coppersafe, Copperaid .. I believe are the products..

The API kit just is to hard to read.. the color test comparison is orange like.. but yet the water is looking yellow after the kit. The Seachem does take longer .. The instructions say for Chelated wait 20 min but much easier to read.

Anyone else have a similar situation with the API and Seachem. thanks

I haven't used Seachem copper test kit in awhile, but if memory serves it tops out @ 0.80 ppm. Too low to measure chelated copper as it has a therapeutic range of 1.5 - 2.0 ppm.

Salifert Copper Test Kit can measure up to 2.0 ppm, but 1-2 ppm is very difficult to distinguish with it.

I might be missing something.. but the strip I just checked for seachem says .05 to 1.0
I also noted that Mardel copper safe say.. "

CopperSafe, when used as directed, maintains a total copper level of 1.5 ppm to 2.0 ppm in the water. CopperSafe remains active for over one month in the aquarium. Levels of 0.3 ppm free copper are recommended in the literature for therapeutic use, but with Coppersafe, the levels of free copper will be measured at 1.5 ppm to 2.0 ppm. This level of copper can be used in the treatment of fish due to Coppersafe's unique chelating agent."

more confusion ....
