so I am starting to think through my stock list on the new tank red sea reefer 750
6'x25.5x24

I love butterfly fish and some day I will have a FOWLR for large angels and butterfly fish but for now I am enjoying the reefing world...

so the CBB has always been on my 'wish list' of fish. however I am a LPS lover not sure they will take a liking to my trachys, acan, browers, and other large meaty corals.

I know ever fish is different. but what is you experience with CBB and LPS ?

not sure I want to try to get one to eat only to have it eat my corals..
on that note I was thinking of starting it off on live black worms then slowly go to mysis and the like.

thoughts?

I agree feather dusters and similar worms are your risk, not so much coral.

As far as getting them to eat they need a low stress qt environment with a couple gentle, calm, but well-eating tankmates to “show them” feeding. Live blackworms, clam on a half shell, live mussels, etc are all good choices. Sometimes live brine will entice them as well.

Same here. My CBB hasn't bothered anything. To be on the safe side though, feed well and provide a lot of microfauna to pick on.

Good luck

I've had cbb that didn't touch anything, but have also had cbb that did eat corals. My last cbb couldn't resist eating acans.

My CBB AKA "The Terminator" for the most part is a model citizen now and that is because I know his tendency's. No Trach's. He will eat them. I have Chalices, torches, frogspawns, acans, donuts....he doesn't bother any of them. If you should decide to frag say a chalice or acan. He will eat it to the bone. If you purchase any of those that have some flesh injury on them. It will be become food.

So it its not freshly cut or injured. He will not even look at it.

what was your QT process and how did you get it to eat? and what are you feeding it now?

It pretty much eats anything except Nori. It gets LRS, Hikari mysis, Hikari blood worms, PE mysis and occasionally other frozen foods.

I was fortunate enough to get mine fully quarantined by a friend who's QT procedures are above question.

yeah I was thinking the same about take mates to show them to eat. was thinking og getting the CBB on the 2nd round of fish once I got a group through QT.
