Copperband Butterfly Diagnosis

Just got this CBB in from NYAquatics. It looks fairly healthy and the pictures make it look worse than it is but after acclimating and keeping the lights off for the last 4-5 hours I turned them on and started inspecting the fish. Is this a bacterial infection? Just seems a bit discolored there but other than that looks healthy. Anything to be concerned about?

It looks like an injury - do you have it in a separate tank - (assume so) - would watch for any evidence of further infection

He’s in a 20L with a foxface I also got today. While he was in the bag temp acclimating to the QT tang I thought I noticed it so don’t think the foxface did it they were shipped in separate bags of course

Also on the tail it looks like there is some cloudiness or something. Do you see that?

I don't see any issues with its caudal fin. The lesion on its dorsal fin is most likely an injury, it seems more obvious on its left side than on the right, implying it may be just a surface injury on the left side.

Do you know the salinity the fish arrived in versus what your tank is at?

For sure! One side looks fine! I don’t know the salinity. I didn’t want to test it because I didn’t want to risk getting disease on my Hanna checker that I use for DT and making water. Like I stated above I noticed it when it was bagged floating but but it was double bagged and lights were off so I was waiting to confirm once I turned the lights on.

- appears to be netting injury with fin getting tangled up

I scooped him out with a cup so potentially could have happened from them. I assume I don’t need to do anything and it’ll heal up on its own?

Looks like an injury that will heal if the fish is healthy

I'm going to suggest you find a local asian market and get some live small clams.

Freeze them in your freezer, and then drop them in and get your Copperband eating

Then start working on acclimating to mysis - can use live brine as a bridge there.

Supposedly he’s been eating frozen mysis. I’m going to try it in the morning first

Keep an eye on it for infection/reddening which will require treatment with seachem kanaplex

i bought same fish from same store, also had same damage, recovered no problem. ill post pictures once ill find them
