I have a copperband butterfly fish in quaritine and I'm almost definitely sure that it has velvet because I have it in cupramine copper and I'm not to the full dose of copper yet but the ich has gotten worse and it's by it's mouth and everything and I'm gonna do a freshwater dip and I've read online to match the ph and put an ammonia blocker in and an air stone and to match the temperature and I've done this before and did it this way but I read something else that said that you don't have to match the ph so what do I really need to do to perform a freshwater dip on this butterfly fish and how long should I dip the fish for?? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

That's one long sentence lol

Make fresh RODI water and temp match it. Then, aerate it for 5 minutes. Once this is done, place the fish in the water for 3-5 minutes and check for flukes that may have fallen off.

Well I dipped the fish for 5 minutes and I seen some white stuff in the bucket but it still has a good bit on him so if it doesn't come off today in the copper can I dip it again tomorrow or how often can I dip it

I wouldn't dip again unless it's having trouble breathing, lethargic, etc. The dips can be very stressful if you do too many too close together.

Well it's still has alot on it but it is swimming good but it's on it's mouth still and on it side fins and a little on it's tail but I dipped it a few hours ago and it's acting fine but it got worse than it was at the beginning of starting the copper and I'm up around .3 in the way of copper now so I don't know what to do now

That's why I'm asking can you dip them once a day or what

Can you post a picture or video clip?

I usually wouldn't advise dipping more often than every 48 hours.

It's hard to get a good picture on my phone of the fish because everytime I get a good angle it moves really fast I've already tryed getting a good picture and it's hard to get one

It won't let me upload a video for some reason and it's saying something is wrong with the network so I don't know why it's doing this because I reset my phone and it's still doing it so it must be the forum

You'll need to host the video elsewhere (like YouTube) and post the link

I wouldn't freshwater dip more often than 48 hours either. The video or a good clear picture will help.
