What is everyone’s thoughts or experiences with a Copperband Butterfly. I’m thinking about adding one and I know they are picky eaters. But do they really go after corals?

Clams and feather dusters for sure, but never heard of them going after coral. I have a mixed reef and haven’t seen him go after anything. Make sure you see it eat frozen before you take it home, it can be really tough starting them on it. Once they eat it reliably, though, they are pretty bulletproof.

I’ve had one now for 1 1/2 yrs and it loves Reef Frenzy. I made sure it was eating before purchasing. Haven’t had issues with it eating coral but possibly it’s nipped at one of my acans although I didn’t witness it

I've had mine for 4 years now and although it hasn't gone after Aptasia ( not what I bought it for) it hasn't touched any of the corals in my mixed reef including a Maxima clam.
I would suggest definitely QTing it because they're easily susceptible to infections. My first one I noticed a rash on it the second day in QT and by the time I got the antibiotics in there by the third day it was too late, it happened very quickly. Another reason is it's easier to get them feeding. Mine would only sparingly pick at Mysis but when I introduced live Black worms he ate them with gusto, I was able to fatten him up in the QT before going into the main tank on those. Now he eats just about everything I feed.

I've had one in my tank for last month or so and it hasn't touched anything except aptasia.
I did watch one in a store's tank a few years ago tearing into acans so it's a possibility. I have heard of a few instances of them going after clams.
