I bought this copperband butterfly from Liveaquaria. It came with a white big spot in its back fin and one side fin. After one day he is showing more but they look a bit different that ich. They are bigger.

Do you have any idea what can it be and what should I use? I have to say he is eating good and it is in my observation tank with a blue powder tang. They have been together for 2 days blue powder is not showing any thing yet.

I have had that on fish before, but I cant remember what we called it. It pretty much just goes away. I didn't do any special treatment to get rid of it.

That appears to be textbook lympho. It presents this way on copperband butterflies and many others pretty often. It could ALSO have ich but I cannot tell for sure. That’s definitely classic CBB lympho beginning.

If he is eating you can add a little garlic to his food.
Selcon, Zoecon, and Vita Chem would help more. Garlic will stimulate appetite which is helpful. :)

Definitely looks like lympho. Good water quality, low stress environment(keep an eye on the powder blue) and good nutrition and it will go away. It can take quite a while though.

I don't like garlic because of the problems it can cause with the liver. If the fish is eating well it's not going to help anyway as stimulating appetite is it's positive effect.

My CBB had lympho just like that all throughout QT.

Once in DT it went away fairly quickly and he is now a fat and happy glutton!

Good luck

I agree with lympho.
Man, there have been a lot of threads for lympho on cbb lately! Maybe we need a sticky? lol

Yep, it was the same with mine. Keep an eye out for bacterial infections. The first CBB I had in QT died from a bacterial infection rather quickly, showed signs one day and the next day was gone. I didn't have all the proper antibiotics on hand. Didn't make the same mistake with the second one.

This is my third try. He is eating pretty good. That was not happening with the other 2.
