Copperband butterfly question

Well I haven't ever actually see him poop. The qt tank is in a bedroom so I'm not always in there. The LFS said that they have had him for a while and he was in one of their coral tanks so I figured I didn't get him right after shipping

Mine eats live brine and black worm readily. I try alternate with frozen and reef frenzy. It eats frozen blood worms. Before I could get black worms I was using small live worms from my kitchen compost bin. They look like blood worms. Hopefully this one will make it. It's been in qt for 2 months now.

Well I don't think he is going to make it but I'm still trying. I tried to soak the good in garlic last night and my LFS also suggested some caviar stuff they had. He hasn't touched either and isn't looking well :-(

I feed mine blood worms and mysis
They are pretty trainable, mine will eat out of my hand
I think however they really need a mature tank to thrive, I watch mine picking at the rock all day long so I feel that the food I feed is just supplemental and having a mature tank with a lot of biodiversity and micro fauna is kinda a must for the long term success with these fragile fish
And obviously if you could get some rock infested with aptasia from a buddy or the LFS it would help to get it through the rough spot it is in

I tried blood worms and he didn't even look at them...he has done that with almost everything I have tried. He is in my QT with 1 piece of live rock. I could put him in my display tank bc that has a well established ecosystem but I don't know if the stress from that will make him even worse.

Do you have any LR or rubble in your sump that could be added to the QT ? If there is Tube Worms and Tunicates etc... this might get him over the hump.... Just a thought, best of luck.

Cheers, Todd

I am in Winter Haven. I started an Aptasia tank cause I was going to breed berghi nudibrancts but my population in my DT crashed so I'm about to pull the plug on the Aptasia. My Aptasia tank is at my office in Haines City which is a little closer to you but still just over an hour drive. If you want to make the trip an 8x4" piece if LR covered in aps is all yours. PM if u r interested.

That's awesome jt, thanks for stepping up to help another Reefer out.

Cheers, Todd

Thank you jt17 for offering up free aptasia to try and save my Copperband but he did not live through the night like I suspected bc of the condition he was in. I don't think I'll be getting another butterfly fish for a while.

Oh man, so sorry to hear they are indeed such beautiful fish and a tough one to lose.
