I have a copperband butterfly in quarantine. She is currently eating a mix of live black worms and frozen brine shrimp 2x/day. I have searched around but have not found the exact info I am looking for... How much and how often should I feed this fish in QT and in DT? Can copperbands eat frozen bloodworms and frozen brine or mysis shrimp as a staple with live blackworms and chowder clams occasionally? Is there a certain frozen variety that works well? The overall feeding plan for the tank is pellets 1-2x day via automatic feeder and frozen one time a day. Will this need to be changed to accommodate the copperband? What other foods if any have people had success with? I will introduce some sort of "feeding tube" if necessary when in display with other more voracious eaters. Is there a certain design that you found worked better then others? Thanks!

I feed mine 1x a day , LRS Reef Frenzy Nano because this food is smaller pieces and easier for her to eat. She goes nuts over this and I have had her for a long ,long time.;)

I also feed LRS once a day and he pigs out. He also seems to find a lot of little morsels in the rock work that he picks a top all day.

Looks like I will have to pick up some LRS the next time I go to store that carries it (2hrs away). Thanks!

My copperband is a pig .. he eats twice a day .. I feed 2 frozen cubes in the morning and two in the evening usually mysis and Artemia or brine .. and a couple times a week copepods

Wow he does sound like a piggy, lol

They aren't too picky. Mine will eat LRS, Hikari mysis, frozen blood worms, NLS pellets. The only thing he won't eat that I feed is nori and he will eat the nori that's in LRS (guess the taste is disguised by the other stuff).

I hope I have one that isn't picky. So far won't eat pellets or flakes but we've had him less the week. He ate blackworms the first day we fed and frozen the next.

Ok i do have other fish as Well .. its not all for him ..:D:D

Lol! I know or at least strongly suspected hehehe

If you can find one from a private aquarium , that has already gone through QT .. id go with that rather than a lfs ..

To late for that but so far he is eating well in QT. He is going to be first fish in new 180g so will have plenty of time to establish and become comfortable before having any competition for food. My husband and I were discussing sand last night and originally were going to use dry sand as our rocks are fully cycled in a brute. But then hubby brought up maybe we should get ocean direct live so the copperband has some critters to eat. Any thoughts?

Id just go with normal sand .. but i would advise too feed Your tank with Copepods first .. i add 2-5 bags of Copepods most weeks .. Im Sure Your copperband would appreciate that more .. but that’s just my opinion..

I normally add them at night when lights are out , turn of my pumps and wave makers and give them a chance too get into the rocks ! Then my copperband can spend all day looking for them !!:D

In the sea they eat worms and thats what you should feed it. I have had many of them and clams is their staple. I freeze the clams and slice off paper thin slices. They should live many years if fed correctly and don't jump out.

Glad to hear your copperband is eating for you. My fish love LRS reef frenzy. I am sure your butterfly will love it.
