My new copperband would eat frozen brineshrimp and mysis within 24 hours but does not seem to like mysis that much( appears to be spitting the shell out?). I plan to use the feeding tube so whatever he spits out should be eaten by other less picky eaters.

I'd like to try frozen bloodworm but all I've read is blackworm. Has anyone tried bloodworm? Will he do better with mysis in a few days? I will not feed clams etc. because they may foul the water.

Maybe you could freeze the clam, and after cracking a very small hole in the shell, pull it from the water after 2 hours— take whatever is uneaten and refreeze the shell, and repeat. I think the clam won’t fouls the water as much if it’s essentially ‘thawing out’ underwater for brief periods of time.

Slightly related, you might want to search for my thread about feeding a mussel per day. Best wishes. (And I got a Copperband about a week ago myself; finding it hard to get him to eat anything— though he is active and always picking at the rocks. I just Hime he finds enough in there to eat.)

My CBB loved Reef Frenzy and clams, mine usually just made a mess if I just drop the clam in so the way I fed the clams is I would open the shell and freeze the clam. Then I would take it out and cut thin slices of frozen clam and the CBB would suck them right up, no waste. I tried freeze dried bloodworms, I soaked them in selcon and I tried soaking them in water from thawed LRS but the CBB never cared for those too much. Of course it loved live blackworms.

You might consider getting a grazing pad as well if you're having trouble feeding.

I have a 5” that eats everything dry and frozen. Mysis is good but if shell is an issue, try plankton. Its favorite is LRS herbivore or fish frenzy diet followed by spirulina brine shrimp with a hint of garlic

thank you very much! I have no problem getting him to eat brineshrimp and mysis so far. One last question: what's the difference between clam and mussel? Mussels are plentiful and much cheaper

Not sure on that, I often include both in my homemade food.
