i just added a copperband. He was feeding well at the store and is not thin. He’s pecking at the rock work and hunting around the tank. It’s only been a day. I have not seen him go for live blackworms or the LRS food. I hit a clam with a hammer and dropped it down for him. I do see him near it, not sure if he’s eating yet. I also made this feeder using PVC and a magnet from an old Jaebo wave maker. Right now I stuck a piece of frozen scallop but he hasn’t noticed it yet. I’m hoping one of the 3 work to get him eating. Any other food advice is welcome. My very small yellow tang isn’t a fan keeps going after the copperband but I put up a mirror and now he could not care less about the copperband. Hopefully it’s just the first day. Tang has only been in the tank about 3 weeks. I’ll do what I can to try and make this a success.

I've had success with a DIY grazer pad. Masstick is also good to try. Mine goes nuts for any kind of fresh clam. I freeze them then slice them very thin.

great design ! I do the same . I alternate between clam & oyster . I'm afraid of the pvc feeders. I fear the sharp edges from the drilled holes can damage the skin on those delicate beaks. Just something to think about .

Thanks! I like to make up a batch of homemade fish food. Oysters, clams, shrimp, scallops, muscles, whatever they've got at the Filipino grocery and soak in selcon. And I do just straight clams for a treat every so often. More work than prepackaged fish food but it's a cheaper and my fish seem to like it more.

Instigate, I like the smaller mesh whatever it's called. Now I'm using much more open gutter guard . I have some like yours but white . Thanks for the upgrade idea !

The stuff has an odd name: "Plastic Canvas Mesh" - it's available at stores that sell fabric for sewing. Comes in sheets about 10" x 12"

Right on! For anyone looking to make one the black mesh is needlepoint mesh from the craft store and the clear net is leftover screen material from BRS DIY screen topkit. BRS also sells a really nice looking grazer that uses a magnet.

Also what is not in that picture is that I just zip tied one side and wrap it around(so I can clean it), then I thread a cut off end of a zip tie through the openings to help secure the food.
