Copperband Help!

Seems like it’s going well.
Picks and eats from rockwork and column.
Looks very normal to me.

Good luck, these fish are fab!

No, other members of the tank are 2 Clowns (which stick to their tiny corner of the back wall), 2 Fire Shrimp, and then the 2 wrasses it came with from the LFS.

I did put all 3 of them in a tiny specimen box when putting them into the DT... I wonder if they got a little snippy with each other in there. They were totally fine with each other in the QT
The wrasses will compete with the copperband for pods I think. Mine does that pacing near the glass thing too. Also I get small clams fresh from the supermarket and feed that, the copperband loves it

Oh man,

Oh man, Trader Joe's is so much more convenient.

How long do you keep the mix in the (fridge/freezer?). I'll try that for sure if it doesn't do the LRS food (which it ignored tonight)
Its a great deal. I think like 9.99 for a bag. Much cheaper than buying frozen but you have to chop it up pretty small. I've kept it in the freezer for at least a year since its kind of my backup as the store often runs out of mysis. There's no expiration date on the package.

Saturday Update

So we ran out of live brine Thursday. Hoped it would eat something else, no dice

Went back to "L"FS (an hour away), picked up live brine...

And the jerk is ignoring it now too.

Should have grabbed black worms when I was there, but I assumed brine would be fine.

Hopefully tomorrow morning is better news.

live blackworms are hard for them to ignore but the other fish love them too. I'd get some if you have a source close. sustaining a cbb on just live brine will be tough imo. They eat a ton.

Sunday Update:

Still not touching the shrimp.

Seems like it's swimming more "listlessly" and looking skinnier.

Will go to get the black worms this afternoon if situation doesn't improve, but then I'm out of town for the week and family will have to feed the options that are here and hope for the best.

Have you tried masstick yet, sorry if missed a post & you have

That's one option yes
They also do it in a powder you add a little RODI too(needs less liquid than you think so add drops at a time) and you make a paste out of it.
You can also add some amino etc if wanted.
Not sure why but it has far more appeal when the mix is made at home.
I make balls out of it, freeze it to keep it fresh and just take a ball out of freezer daily, defrost for 30 seconds then pop on glass.
Im not affiliated with them btw!
It's just helped me and quite a lot of other CBB owners out

Aight, added.

Didn't seem interested in black worms.

MassStick will get here Tuesday.

For better or for worse, I'm out of town all week, so he'll be left alone except for morning and evenings feedings by the family (I work from home & tank is in office, so I'm more prone to try and feed several times a day if I'm here).

Monday Update:

He's not gonna make it. Woke up this morning and he was in a different spot, breathing heavy. After I made coffee, came back and he was pinned against wavemaker.

Grabbed him out and put in QT, tossed in a baster of live brine & blackworms just for him with no light and low flow, but it's barely swimming.

This sucks, but at least it happened before I left for the week so my family doesn't have to deal with it on their own

Ahhhh that's a shame.
Sorry to hear that.
They are finicky things.
There is a strong argument for them being one of those "just leave them in the ocean" fish but equally there are plenty of success stories.
Hope he pulls a miracle out of the bag & makes it!

I couldn't handle watching him lie sideways on the bottom. Looked like he was losing color and turning black as well. Gills/mouth breathing rapidly.

So I put him in the freezer to give him a quick passing, rather than suffer.

I'm so sorry to hear that he didn't make it. My first attempt ended up the same way.

Some food for thought if you ever try again.

The LFS where I purchased mine told me the other day his success varies wildly when he brings these fish in depending on the supplier. Some shipments they all eat right away and have zero issues while other times the fish do not eat and he loses all of them before sale. As a result he charges triple the normal price.

This leads me to believe that most of the issues are due to the supply chain and something to consider if you ever try again.
