I bought a copperband butterfly fish and two flames angels to go into my 120 about 2 weeks ago. After a couple days one of the flame angels had a white lump or fungus looking thing above his eye. I did some research Ali g with some friends I have locally that have fish and it looked like Lymphocystis. From
What I read some health feedings and the fish should pull through. He was eating, but a couple days later I saw the same white fungus looking thing on my copper bands fin, I figured it was the same thing so continued adding aqua-forest vitamins to their food.

A couple days ago my flame angel died, now I am worried it could happen to my copperband. I have attached some pictures to help identify. The little white specs are in the water column and not actually on its fins.

My Nitrates have stayed pretty consistent around 5 my phosphate did jump from .08 last week to .33 this week, which I think is strange but figure more information the better.

It does look like lympho, though unless it was literally covering the mouth/gills I highly doubt that’s what killed the flame. Were they qt’d or treated for anything prior to being added?

Lympho is a opportunistic virus that takes advantage of a fishes lowered immune system, usually from acclimation stress and/or parasites.

Thanks for the reply! The flame never had it on his gills, it was just above one of his eyes. It hasn’t attacked any of my fish I had in the tank before, thankfully. I did not QT, I don’t have a QT tank. My LFS has held them for 3 weeks before I got them though.

I guess I should just keep going with some vitamins and keeping the water clean?

High quality foods like blackworms, frozen clams, etc. are great for CBBs. Beautiful fish.

Surprisingly it hasn’t touched clams when I put them in the tank. It’s slowly started eating some other foods besides mysis, it was the only thing it would eat to begin with, but now eats the home made with some shrimp a d different fish. I live in Canada and we don’t have live black worms here (I checked) it’s also to cold to ship anything live at this point....
