Copperband in 15gallon

Why seek assurance when you already made up your mind?
If i had made up my mind i would have already bought one and would be in my tank right now but thats not the case. Im looking for someone else’s experience if attempted. Not the tang police sister department the cbb police

Two possible questions you could be asking here:

Can it literally fit into the tank? If that's what you're asking then yes, a smaller object does fit into a larger object generally.

Should you put it in there/will it be able to thrive? Nah that'd be a very silly question indeed, you must be asking the other one, please refer to my above answer if you need help with this.

Weird though - I thought children typically develop spatial understanding around 18 months, we've got some young posters on this forum so please keep it family friendly everyone!

In all seriousness you're getting silly responses because you asked a silly question. You're asking if an animal that is already quite difficult to keep and is known to stress out and die in even quite good conditions, can be kept in a tank that is way too small for it. The answer is no, and it would be incredibly cruel to do so and a waste of time and money for you.

It'd be like trying to keep a dog in your bathroom if it was a dog that was an incredibly picky eater and was known to have a heart attack and die when stressed or confused.

common sense should tell you 8 inch fish in a 15 gallon is a no go pretty black and white to me
i have seen plenty of large fish in small tanks....fish upto and larger the 18". I will admit they are at live seafood restaurants

The smaller the copper band the harder it is to get it to feed. I would only purchase one that is eating prepared or frozen food and those I have seen eating have been 4-5”. While typically occupy a relatively small area in the tank, they need room to exercise. It would not be fair to the fish to be that confined. I am all about bucking the trend, but please don’t do this. Look for a used large tank and then go for it.

I'm all for pushing boundaries in the hobby, but I don't think this is reasonable.

Once you've got any sort of aquascape + sand in the tank you'll be down to around 12 gallons of swim room and that's being generous.

I think even if you had to find the smallest CBB you could, a 15 gallon tank really isn't going to work.

Just because you have seen someone else do it doesn’t mean it is a good idea. Be a responsible pet owner and provide the absolute best conditions you can afford and maintain. Your livestock deserves that!

On r2r you shouldn’t be afraid to ask a question.
But you might not like the answer but members are willing to spend time and there knowledge to help you that’s for sure 100%

Nobody in their right mind has attempted it. Why? Because it’s not right, if you got a 15 gallon tank and planned to put fish that grow big and even then require SPACE to swim then should’ve gotten a much much bigger tank bud lol

You got a NANO tank so get fish that are meant for a NANO tank lol you wouldn’t want to call a small closet your home?? So why do that to a innocent fish

Well over a year in the hobby. I think we all forget that this isnt a black and white hobby. We are all trying to put a piece of ocean in glass box. Reality of it anything can be possible nothing in this hobby is set in stone
Do you care about the fish? If so, you already know the answer and dont need validation from anyone else.

cause they r cheap bet he wudnt buy a black tang and put it in the 15 gallon

You should also buy a Labrador Retriever and keep it locked in a small utility closet

Maybe
buy a Maple Tree and plant it in a pot and keep it in your living room

Heck
, buy a pet Chicken and keep it in your sock drawer

All
brilliant ideas.....

Possible for a CBB to be in a 15 gallon. He would be the only fish in the tank with coral. Could I buy one super small and grow him out in it? How fast is there growth rate
I would not he would die of stress so fast and outgrow the tank very fast

Or get a nursing shark and put it in the 15 gallon tank
Nothing wrong with getting fish that are meant for a nano tank. Still pretty fun, even more fun when you start getting corals too.

That’s the problem with small nanos you can fill them with corals so it looks beautiful and then you are limited with what size fish and do they all get along together. Someone on r2r did a list for fish kept in small nanos

Then get a bigger tank lol but don’t put a fish that needs space in a small tank if you’re not willing to fork up a good penny for a bigger tank for it , not the fish’s problems just yours lol
