Maybe 2? In qt right now and going to treat em with copper before adding to the tank
I know it may sound bad but if you go light on the feeding for the file fish (or starve him out) you might have better odds with him eating aptasia as he'll be forced to forage for food on his own

This sounds about right cause my tangs and lawnmower blenny houses all the GHA in my tank

What kind of wrasses do you have? I hadn't been able to obtain a healthy CBB so I tried a pair of Berghia nudibranch's.

I started with them in the sump. Both started attacking the ones in the sump. Already laying egg cases ( been 8 days now) I'm not running socks so that the new born's 10-14 days which can be free-swimming larvae and fully metamorphosed juveniles) time to get around the sump. One of the adults somehow made it thru the return pump and into the D/T. I found it gliding down the glass to the sand and it has already devoured a large swath of Aiptasia from one of the rocks.

Possibly you could look to this for a solution?

Sincerely,

David

I have a pair of these in two separate tanks and they are lawnmowers when it comes to aiptasia. https://www.liveaquaria.com/product/3555/?pcatid=3555

The catch is, they feed at night and in both tanks cases it took 7-10 days before I noticed aiptasia gone. In one tank the aiptasia was over-running a rock formation & within days it was gone. They are since model citizens and don't pick at any other corals. (when cleaning my sumps, if I find aiptasia - these guys get a treat)

Tried a CB and a filefish. Neither touched aptasia. Got a Melanurus Wrasse which keeps them out of the display tank even though there are a few in the sump.

If you're getting a copperband for anything more than an ornamental fish that has proven difficult to keep, you're making a mistake.

I thought about it but I got the ugly file file lol. I think I will have a better chance with my corals

If you under feed it to try to get it to eat aptasia, it may decide it likes corals more.

I have been thinking about this too since I now have a holy grail torch, I'm concerned.
