Copperband stopped eating in QT

Have had nice 4” copperband in QT for 2 weeks. Was at LFS for 2 weeks and was eating well there. Was eating PEMysis very well for me since entering tank. Been through 2 rounds of prazipro 6 days apart and continued to eat well. Change 5 gallons of water every 5 days in 10 gallon tank that was already cycled. Temp -80. Ammonia-0. Nitrite-0. Nitrate-15. SG-1.025. pH-8.2. Fish just suddenly stopped eating yesterday. No visible marks or lesions on fins or body. Not flashing or shaking head. Any ideas? Was going to dose CP tomorrow but now hesitate to do that unless he starts eating again. Thank you for any thoughts!!!

Any other behaviors changed? How's its breathing? Swimming? Hiding from light? Nosing into flows? Really like CBs. The "red sore" condition is so common with these fish, that I treat them in the QT with NFG immediately. By the time the "red sores" show it's usually too late to save them.

No red sores at all. Breathing normally. Behavior unchanged other than not swimming to top of tank at feeding time. Seemingly no change other than not interested in eating. I could try black worms but just don’t understand why appetite just stopped

Would you skip chloroquine treatment and try NFG or just hold off on all treatment and see if he starts eating again?

Sometimes these fish just stop eating and starve themselves. That being said, My standard procedure with CBB is to immediately QT and dose with NFG for a few days. Length depends on the fish. At least a couple of days, up to 10 days if necessary. While treating with NFG, get them eating by feeding with white or black worms, and a fish smoothie: using frozen fish cubes - seaweed, cyclops, mysis, brine shrimp, chopped clams, coral mix (has sponges, etc.). Allow to thaw in a dish in the fridge. Strain off excess water. Add a couple of drops of vitamin like Selcon, Zoecon, etc. The mix will stay good in the fridge for several days. Once the fish is feeding and has been treated with NFG, then treat with copper/CP. Lastly treat with General Cure.

Yes. It goes a long way but you have to treat daily for ten days or so

Check your LFS for it, I never found anywhere online to get smaller quantities. At my LFS they sell a small bottle of it for under $30 I think it was.

Infections and uronema are very common in CBB and really everywhere in the supply chain these days. I’d source NFG just to have it on hand.

I recommend blackworms as well as clam on a half shell or live mussels.

Is the fish visibly thin? When my new fish eat I pretty much feed medicated food from the beginning and assume internal parasites — General Cure and Seachem Focus to bind it to the food

The fish is not thin. He looks really good. He seemed more interested in food tonight. He would stare at a piece for 5-10 seconds then turn away which is better than what he was doing over past 24 hours. Hopefully he will start eating again tomorrow

Is he with any fish that eat well? I find this is helpful with CBB.

And on the other hand, if they’re with aggressive, fast, intimidating eaters then it can have the opposite impact.

Right now he is by himself in QT tank. Has been in QT for 17 days. Was eating well up till yesterday. Tough to figure why appetite just stopped. Not acting sick in any other way

It’s hard to tell. I’ve not had luck QT’ing them alone but others have. Sorry, I’d try the different food types as soon as possible before “not eating” becomes habit.
