So I did Velvet TTM and had a leopard wrasse, copperband, red ruby dragonet. The leopard did not make through ttm. But the other 2 fish did make it. Copperband was eating once the ttm was over. Now 7 days after final transfer in which I have a black molly and a lyratail anthais in the final tank which quarantined the copperband struggled to breath and died out of no where. I am think it came down with secondary bacterial infection. I never could get it to eat medicated food. What should I do with the other fish just observe and wait. That is what I am leaning towards. But for how long?

Lets start with vital info:
Tank age?
Ammonia and nitrate reading?
Tank temperature?
Salinity reading?
Type of filtration?
Redness or spots on skin?

Well this happens in qt which has been up for 2 months.
78 to 80 normally, hob, no redness or sore spots, and no white spots at all during observation period. He just had rapid breathing yesterday and died shortly after that. Salinty is 1.025. No ammonia or nitrate.

thanks
Bobby

The black molly has no spots whatsoever so I feel velvet ttm was successful

With the copperbands heavy breathing flukes could have been present. With TTM keep in mind you cannot out run flukes and these need to be treated with Prazipro. Also to confirm flukes were present a freshwater bath will show and dislodge from the fish.

Ok the copperband passed this morning I did do several treatments of prazipro and general cure. Unless it was resistant to what I did.

Did you use both at the same time? If so these medications love to suck up a lot of O2 so heavy aeration is definitely recommended when medicating. Could have been maybe a lack of O2?

Definitely feel that general cure did not take care of flukes for the butterfly after looking at some information. I know for next time to use prazipro. So mad at myself. Thanks for every ones help. Now I still have a lyratail and red scooter dragonet. They eat fine but would like to get them in display as soon as possible. I just dose 2.5 ml of prazipro in 10 gallon qt tank. What should I do next? Thanks

I did not use them at the same time I originally would do general cure 1 packet in 10 gallon before next transfer and I did this twice. I guess it was not strong enough and should have used prazipro.

I definitely recommend Prazipro for flukes as it works with in 24 hours to help remove flukes. GC works as well just a lot slower as the Prazi is in powder form. Plus GC has Metro which works well for internal parasites.

Thanks! Do you think I would be fine to do another prazi treatment in 4 days after water change and then move them to display. They have been in observation for almost 2 weeks next Thursday and nothing has popped up on black molly.

Yea I think you would be fine to do another round then in the DT they go!

Thank you for your help! I am super paranoid with this stuff. That’s why I have a black molly.
