Hi there.

Will a salifert tester work with coopersafe?

I was in a bind because of holiday delayed shipping and got cooper safe locally. Copper power won’t show up until after Christmas.

I have the same problem with a Hanna checker as I cannot get it until after Christmas.

My questions are:

1) will a salifert copper test kit work with chealted copper?

2) can I use copper power in a coppersafe dosed tank once I have when I make water changes?

I started ramping up the QT in the meantime but I do need to have a test kit - especially after reading about Marcel’s QC issues [emoji79]

Salifert does not read high enough for chelated copper.

I would not recommend mixing the coppers as the chelation agent is unknown. You are better off just finishing the treatment with copper safe if it's what you start with. The Hanna checker will be fine with coppersafe.

Be careful ramping up coppersafe without a test kit. I have had issues with the product even using the API kit.

Cool - alright I’ll use the coppersafe. I got the Hanna next day from SWA so I think I should be okay. Shame that fritz products have QC issues. I’ve seen the same thing with their salt [emoji29]

I have had a lot of success with CopperSafe, and have used it (30 day treatment) on a M. Wrasse, V. Puffer, Filefish, Bi-colored Angel, One Spot Foxface, Longnose Hawkfish, any several others, without losing a fish. They key, however (as you noted), is a Hanna Checker. When mine arrived, I learned that my API test kit was seriously under-reading the amount of CopperSafe (1 teaspoon per 4 gallons, as directed.). Best wishes.
