Coppersafe dosage and API test kit

I have a 20L for quarantine. According to the directions on the Coppersafe bottle I should add 5ml per 4 gallons. What concentration should this give me? I am assuming 1.5 to 2.0 ppm.

A full dose for a 20L would be 25 ml. I have added 12.5 ml over 3 days and from what I can tell on my API test kit I think I am already at 1.5. Am I reading the test wrong? I would guess there is probably 17-18 gallons of water since it is not completely full and has about 5 pieces of PVC in it.

What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I am looking down on the test tube with the bottom touching the card. I do this under a white florescent light.

Following the directions will typically land you right near 2.0, which is where you want to be to allow for some wiggle room.

I use that same test kit but I hold the tube about 1/4" above the card and looking straight down. I also take it outside under natural sunlight. That gives me an orange color that matches exactly at 2 ppm.

Looking down is the correct way to view it. And viewing under natural sunlight should give you the most accurate reading. Is the test tube sitting on the white area of the card while you are looking down?

I tube was "just barely" above the card. Like maybe 1/4". I'm pretty sure it's giving me perfect results. Orange matches exactly like the card.[emoji4]

I'm being nitpicky , but I'd lay the test tube directly down on the white part and then compare.
