I've been trying to remove CopperSafe from a quarantine system that's been running for about 5 weeks with CS at 2.0

Ran carbon in a reactor and added 3 pads of polyfilters to absorb for 48hours but copper still reading 2.0. (API / Hach both reading 2.0+)

Polyfilters turned blue but not sure why the copper level is not dropping. Is large water change the only way to effectively remove CopperSafe? Their website also states that it's "active for one month" - Does this mean whatever copper that's left in the system is no longer therapeutic?

Any advice would be appreciated.

IME; a polyfilter will pull any form of copper out of the water. The pad turning blue is an indicator that is what's happening. Very odd.

+1 on the Cuprasorb. Doesn't work instantaneously though. Multiple water changes and 3-4 days running the cuprasorb pad in your HOB filter will do the trick. Get some muriatic acid to recharge it good as new.

I Always do a 100% water change, add carbon to HOB filter, gone within a day or two.

Thank you for the replies everyone, I'll try 50% waterchanges + cuprisorb to see if the copper level changes.

I'm a bit perplexed by this and one explanation could be that my copper level was already higher than 2.0 to begin with...but fish that came out of quarantine stayed in this system for weeks without showing any signs of copper overdose. I dosed 2ml / gal based on recommendations here on one of the CS threads.

Their website also states that it's "active for one month" - Does this mean whatever copper that's left in the system is no longer therapeutic? I was thinking if it's already at 2.0, I could try using the QT with a new group of fish but not if CS "expires" after one month.

I had the same experience recently, was odd, but eventually water changes pulled it to zero.

If it was still active at therapeutic levels, you would want to get it to zero before adding new fish anyway. Best to ramp them up in coppper over time, not just introduce them to full strength immediately.
