Coppersafe Removal

How long does it usually take to remove Coppersafe with poly filter? I've been running it about 24 hours and it's blue, but my test kit doesn't show any difference.

Should I also run carbon?

Carbon will help remove some of it. A water change will remove it the quickest, though.

I did a 25% wc before starting the poly filter

Cuprisorb pads. Takes a few days. The edges of the pad will slowly turn blue. Place the pad in a high flow area in your HOB filter. Plus you can "recharge" the pad good as new by using muriatic acid available at your local hardware store.

Yes. I've used it for Coppersafe.

Carbon does work but takes longer and usually requires more water changes.

After the water change I run the poly in my HOB for about a week it start to change color within an hour so I know it’s working after a week take it out do 25%WC add carbon then run copper test good to go. If you want to make sure after like I did when I first started this process cut a piece of poly and put it in see if it change color.

IME i would say no cause after running carbon alone there was always some copper left behind that’s why I use polyfilter also and with poly you can see that it’s working.

Never did it but don’t see why it would cause any problems.

+1 Cuprisorb... it's rechargeable with muratic acid. You get multiple uses out of one pouch.

I did two 50%+ water changes before adding polyfilter and it took 3 days before I could not see copper on my api test.
