Coppersafe slightly expired?

Starting QT have coppersafe that expired on 12/18. Is it still safe to use? Going to just use the one tank method as well. Or should I switch to copper power for some reason?

I would think it’s ok IMO, if the bottle expired two years ago then I’d say differently.

If you have a Hanna checker then it doesn’t matter if it expired. I would be cautious with coppersafe as the concentration appears to be inconsistent. For more, check this thread by @HotRocks

If you test and assume the potency of the bottle could yield literally any concentration when testing, you should be OK with slightly expired copper. I would NOT assume the next bottle is the same potency, it could literally be 2-3 times more potent than it was supposed to be.

I’m thinking keep it simple and follow your guidelines with copper power if I can find it at my LFS. Seems you guys already have that dosage down.

Up to you, we only chose copper power because CopperSafe was so inconsistent— dosages changed bottle to bottle and the instructions were the same.

They’re both chelated copper and should be the same. CopperSafe quality control obviously was not good, lol

I just QT-ed two separate fish with Coppersafe that expired 06/18. Dosages were consistent with my Hana Cu tester. Had no issues. Fish are doing great.

Probably have to get it on Amazon. Just make sure to get the blue bottle not the green. Greens for freshwater applications. FYIW, Copper Power is much, much easier to work with. The dosage is right on the money.
