Hi all. I just set up my 1st apex with a FM100 on my main return. 1 1/4" manifold off of the pump w/ 3 outlets, 2 for future reactors/whatever (both currently closed), and 1 being main return. Main return reduces down to 1" which is also where my FM is located. I have the max flow rate set to 100% on the COR and the apex is saying it is running 100% but the FM is showing a flow rate of only 700+-. The max height is approx 5'6" to the display. The pump should be around 2000gph at max give or take. Could this be an issue with the FM not reading correctly (common??), or could there be that much neg head pressure in the return that even set at 100% the COR is only pushing 1/2 of its max rated flow?? Any info/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My COR-20 is connected to 1” PVC with a 1” flow sensor. I also have a manifold for reactors, but even with the reactor valves closed I can’t get much more than 450 gph. I think part of the problem is my Red Sea Reefer return nozzle being approximately 5/8” causing a bottleneck.

Thanks for the response. I'm guessing that the rated max flow is right at the pump outlet w/ zero rise and no fittings. This is my first tank build so still figuring this out. I just thought less than half max rated flow was odd, but I'm also not a fluid dynamics engineer!lol

I don't have any hands on experience with the COR, but I do find the flow sensors to be quite flow restrictive and a good idea to upsize them. It's too bad they don't make a 1 1/2" version; the 2" sensor is CHUNKY. I do find the flow sensors to be broadly accurate (plus/minus 10%).
