Coral and invert qt choices

I'm thinking I might start to qt my corals inverts and fish. I read humblefishs post of qt and saw his setup.
I'm going to use a 40 breeder for the fish but was looking for options in the corals. I'm looking to go more sps dominant but would start with a mixed reef.
I was thinking of using an all in one tank and was wondering what everyone thinks would be best.
Was looking at picking up a used innovative marine tank nuvo 30L, nuvo 40 or the nuvo lagoon 25. Or if I could pick up a Red Sea reefer nano.

I do and like it quite a bit. I don't keep the glass all that clean and let some macro algae just grow in the tank, but it serves my purposes and is always up and running. It's kind of set up as a mini reef tank with an AI Prime and ATO.... just a little on the ugly side lol. It's quite ideal for a coral QT.

Would a skimmer be of any benefit? Since t will only be corals and inverts?
I also want to keep a pair of harlequin shrimp so I'll have to get star fish and qt them. Could I just setup a critter keeper inside the tank to house some star fish (chocolate chip starfish) until they go in the display tank?

Organics should be light in a fishless tank, but IMO having a skimmer is always a good thing. You wouldn't need one right away... maybe down the road.

Before you consider keeping a Chocolate Chip Starfish, know they are not reef safe and will eat corals. A Fromia genus star would be a much better choice, but you need to let your tank mature first as they primarily eat algae, microorganisms and detritus.

Gotcha.

Actually, starfish & sea urchins cannot carry the encysted stage (Peter Burgess 1992). But I would still give them a good rinse to wash away any free swimmers which might be inadvertently attached.

I would pour some tank water over him, and into a bucket to be discarded. That should do it.

Note: Starfish & urchins are the only exceptions you can do this with.
