Coral Ark

Seems like an interesting idea.... but very sparse with any actual details of what they plan to do or how they plan to achieve it

My issue is, most of us don’t really know the actual genus/species of most of our corals, and I don’t think most of the retailers we buy them from really know. I mean, it is going to be hard to reintroduce a Walt Disney Cherry Bounce “acro” to it’s indigenous location.

Well for what it is though getting corals back into the ocean to their original locations can be a challenge , I suppose more or less it can be a large data/ support network for us.

Something similar

I’m definitely interested. Although I want to say, we don’t really hurt the ocean as much as others do. If anything we’re helping... check this out. Ryan explains it perfectly.

Good point

This is a good point that's rarely talked about, we run our tanks so consistantly that alk, temp, and light changes often result in dead/browned out coral. A lot of the thought towards reefs and aquariums in relations to exotic animal keeping is conservation and growing coral in our tanks that are dying out in the wild, but are we really conserving anything if we run them so delicately?

Agreed. To really help we’d need access to things like Elkhorn, Staghorn, Star Boulder Coral, et cetera. And that stuff is protected so it‘d be pretty difficult to get hands on
