Coral arriving tomorrow, dipping suggestions please.

Hi guys/girls I have some corals arriving tomorrow most of the beginner softies, a few lps, plus one hammer and torch.

The few corals I have right now, I dipped on Revive before introducing to the DT (I got those locally)

The ones tomorrow are coming from Orlando to Miami. My questions are:

1. Should I float bag, or drip acclimate them?
2. After that use Revive, then go to the DT?
3. Or should I do an Iodine dip after the Revive, then to the DT?

As a newbie I appreciate all your suggestions.

Personally I just put them straight in after swishing them around in a bowl of tank water. I like to introduce quickly and give them less to have to deal with.

Follow the instructions that come with the coral. If you don't it may void the warranty.

I thought from all the research I done before and BRS videos that we should always dip them before introducing them to the tank to avoid pest going into the DT. Then WWC says not to dip them and put them in the tank. Confusing getting two different angles.

some vendors are good keeping pest free tanks. but i have found bryopsis, gha, and things like bristle worms and medusa worms on frags from some vendors that are well known. i dip every coral i get regardless where or who it comes from.

i use reef primer and coral rx. soon switching to bayer for all corals, and potassium chloride for acros

I would just float them not drip acclimate. Then I would dip them and most important manually inspect for pests. I understand why WWC may say not to dip them it is an added stress, but unless they were going to a QT I would always dip them. I go to a QT first and depending on the coral I may not dip and put them straight in.

Sounds logical, I also think going straight in DT without a dip is a risk after all we do to keep pest out. If I had a QT then yes would be deferent, but I'm not there yet.
Thanks for your input, we'll give it more though until tomorrow that they arrive to make a decision.

i float for about 10-15 minutes since the bags are usually small.. i drip acclimate while i dip. rinse in some iodine then place in tank on my frag rack for observation

No problem!

I use a combo of dips.

First is 10-15 minutes in Koral MD from brightwell. Followed by a quick rinse/shake in fresh salt water.

I follow that with a 1 minute dip in Coral Essentials Coral Power FW and another rinse. (Don't use this on Monti's)

Then it's 10-15 minutes in Dip X from Red Sea, followed by another rinse.

Last is a dip in Lugol's for 5-10 minutes and another rinse.

This has kept me pest free in my receiving and frag tanks. Prior to Dip X I was using a second dose of Koral MD or Coral RX.

I would use both. I would skip revive and save it for down the road if something looks like it's struggling or if you frag.

I would say give Dip-X a try, I've been impressed with it.
