Coral banded shrimp not moving.

what kind of test you used for the salinity? It seems very unusual that an LFS will keep salinity that high, in fact, almost unheard of.

I think something was off with the salinity test, and if so then you acclimated it to a different salinity for no reason, therefor the reason that it got shocked.

Unless you used a Hanna I would say there was an issue with the test device, just my guess.

Using a calibrated refractometer. Both clowns In the tank plus snails were all fine (now so is the CBS)

I actually remember buying from this store on my previous tank few years ago and was the same salinity then. Other stores I buy from are usually between 1.024-1.027

CBS is not a cleaner shrimp. I dont know if it eats aptaisia, but it does eat corals and small inverts, so be careful about putting it into your reef. Mine is in its own tank.

I would be getting it just to set up a cleaning station for fish which I have seen it do at my LFS.

What about the fire shrimp ? Those will clean and they are similar to the skunk.

If not I would recommend one of the smaller stenopus like the yellow or blue coral banded shrimp. They are small and docile and I doubt they would attack a similar sized shrimp. They stay much smaller than the regular coral banded shrimps (my yellow is about 1.75 inches from tail to rostrum). I have also seen mine clean a fish and also he will shake his arm when fish get close as if he is asking them to come in. Mine does not even seem interested in catching amphipods.

I wish! those are beautiful but even more expensive than the red lines! Those are $180-$300 (AUD). I guess I might have to save up for a normal red line cleaner!

They don’t move around much and do tend to just stay in one spot the majority of the day. Do you have any overhangs he can go into? Also did you only just add him to the tank, if so then it’s highly likely that he’s startled.
